Community Ministry benefits from food canned at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cannery. Produce is donated by farms throughout the Rocky Mountain region and canned from May through October. Canned food is divided among various agencies based on how many days each organization canned and how many volunteers worked. Food canned helps us cut down on our purchasing expenses.

Each year Community Ministry helps more than 200 children prepare for school by providing backpacks and school supplies. Member churches, individuals and stores donate items.

Community Ministry provides food boxes each Thanksgiving and Christmas above and beyond the regular food bank distribution. Food boxes include ingredients for a complete holiday dinner, including meat. Food comes from special item food drives hosted by member churches, donations from stores and other organizations.
Each year Community Ministry provides gifts for children in the area for Christmas. Nominations of children to receive gifts are made by family members, schools and churches. Each child receives up to $30.00 worth of Christmas gifts donated by private individuals.

Member churches are encouraged to organize fundraiser events for their congregations to support Community Ministry. These have included bake sales, car washes, garage sales, hosting groups for meals and donating proceeds to CM, selling King Soopers gift certificates etc.
