Denver Human Services is now located at Community Ministry. Their hours are 10A.M. - 2P.M., Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Services Offered Are:Food Assistance Programs:
The Food Stamp program provides food assistance to individuals and families that meet program guidelines. Those who qualify and provide required verifications may receive benefits within 7 days of application. King Soopers certificates are available for food, diapers, and other items (except beer and cigarettes), based on worker's discretion. Please note, if you are receiving three meals a day, you do not qualify for these programs.
Pharmacy vouchers:
Emergency pharmacy vouchers are good for use at King Soopers pharmacies to assist families with urgently needed medical prescriptions when no other resource is available. You must apply for Medicaid or CICP if you are not currently participating in either program. This is a limited service.
Bus tokens:
Available on a limited basis when of completing a DHS application in order to obtain benefits.
Eviction assistance, deposit, and first month's rent assistance:
Rental assistance is available to individuals and families who have a verifiable emergency preventing them from being able to pay rent and are able to demonstrate the ability to maintain the expense. An applicant cannot pay more than 60% of their net earnings for housing. Assistance is not available for legal or late fees. If you are applying for first month's rent, you are responsible for finding your own housing .
Motel vouchers:
For families, women with children, single women, those in need of respite, and the disabled . Vouchers are used primarily at the Volunteers of America Family Motel, if the VOA motel is full, other locations may be available. Able recipients are required to seek other housing options during their stay at the motel.
Aid to the Needy and Disabled (AND):
Cash assistance program for those with a disability who qualify.
Old Age Pension (OAP):
Cash assistance program for those who qualify over the age of 60.
Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)/Family Medicaid:
Cash assistance program for families with children under 18 or child over 18 that is attending school and will graduate before their 19 th birthday.
